On 7/1/2014, Bishop Beeman, Chairman of crisis management committee of Egyptian churches declared to Altahrir News that 66 churches in addition to religious establishments and 40 different sites of services buildings and private properties like homes and shops have been destroyed and burned after the 30th of June revolution and the total loss is about 100 Million Egyptian Pounds.
Bishop Beeman added that a committee has been formed in cooperation with the Engineering institution of the Egyptian Armed Forces and the department of housing in the sector of administration of construction in conjunction with the church.
The preparation for restoration of Egyptian churches started on 10/12/2013 and will be achieved by next Christmas in 2015. All restoration works are taking place in coordination with the Egyptian Armed Forces. Bishop Beeman said.
Aldostour News published that the first stage of Churches restoration began on 28/12/2013. The Engineering Institution of the Armed Forces started to rebuild churches and schools in Minia Governorate which included Prince Tadrus Alshatby Church, the Sisters school, 5 Churches in 4 different cities in the Governorate, the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Evangelical Church in Malawy city, Mar Girgis church in the Bilhassa village center of Maghagha , Evangelical church in Beni Mazar, in addition to the St. Joseph school Sisters school.
Bishop Makarious declared on 2/12/2013, that the second stage of churches restoration will start one month after the begining of the 1st stage.
