“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only. Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities. English novelist (1812 – 1870).
That was then England 1800s, as it is now the tale of two, three, perhaps four cities in one. Cairo, al Qahera, the invincible one.
The place where you are either glorified or conquered. A place of immense suffering and immense mercy. The city of a thousand lights and a thousand smells. Not all pleasant to your senses yet some exquisitely divine.
The place you adore or abhor… A land of defeat, and yet land to the greatest glories and might that dwarfs some of the best tales told.
The place where fate is a matter of choice, where you are your strength and where your choice makes you either Human or simply in-human… The place where the Divine simply exalts itself in YOU!
Here in this land of ours, where the skies meet the land, where Orion embrace the Pyramids, we the people of Egypt stand to the challenge. The challenge of reaching to The Soul, that of mirroring the Divine on earth and turning the world “as above, so below”.
Then Welcome to the times of Choice! Welcome to Cairo 2011-2014!
I can hear you roaring of laughter wherever you are reading these lines… laugh… it is ok.
We laugh too at our poverty, sickness, illiteracy, child abuse, social injustice, pollution, etc. Get the UN list of millennium goals and just check right. You name it we’ve got it! Not just all but in challenging proportions as well. We look in the mirror and we never dispair! We understand that life is a test.
The one thing that 2011-2013 is proof of is that Egypt has never lost its Soul.
Two revolutions/uprisings/coups, call it whatever you like. Play all your games. The reality of the matter is that Egyptians have not lost their eternal essence in the quest of times. Truth, Justice, Balance, Law and Order are sacred to the people of the divine land. Ma’at is in all our souls.
Fool me, I will let you fool me, I know you are fooling me, I will allow you to fool me… Only temporarily… I will give you the benefit of the doubt till doubt is no more. Patience is my virtue, not my weakness. Poverty is my strength, not my weakness for there is no more to loose. My body might be weak but I have the inner core. Illiteracy has not corrupted my soul for I know that my soul can only be part of the eternal. I celebrate the divine in me and will accept nothing less than eternity. I Am Egyptian.
It is in that spirit that Egypt and the forever invincible Cairo will conquer tomorrow. In Truth, Justice, Balance, Law an Order. Those are the principles of our transitional period that is our constitution.
The constitution so criticized in western media for not allowing parties to be formed on religious grounds.
Really? Who are you?
are you still at that stage of EVOLUTION? Haven’t you yet understood that Religion is principle? ethics? righteous conduct? Justice? balance? law and order? Are you still fighting the primordial fights of Muslim vs Christian vs Jew vs Hindu? Are you still in the bush phase of either being with us or against us?
Oh Please! grow up and be part of the Universe’s soul. Be children to Ma’at and walk tall like an Egyptian.
We expect no less of ourselves. Nor will we accept any less from our future leader.
Only He, who will honor the principles of Ma’at in deed and in action is worthy of the resilient people of Egypt. He who has the courage and personality, He who fears not, only He will be glorified, cherished and made forever eternal in name. It is not just a matter of choice it is a matter of instinctive knowledge for He carries the genes of Egypt…
With Love, Serenity and Peace,
See you in my next time,
